What Does ALADI Stand for

what is ALADI:

An acronym for the Latin American Integration Association, intergovernmental body that seek to promote economic and social development among the members that compose it is known as ALADI.

ALADI is formed by 13 countries comprising Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, being open to the request for accession by any other State of Latin America.

LAIA was created on August 12, 1980 by the Treaty of Montevideo, in substitution of the Latin American Association of free trade (ALALC), under five principles: pluralism, convergence, flexibility, differential treatment, and the multiplicity.

Objectives of ALADI

La ALADI aims to achieve a Latin American common market, through the gradual elimination of barriers to trade among member countries, which helps the social and economic development of the region to provide a better quality of life for their inhabitants.

The ALADI, as such, performs a differential treatment in the development of the Member countries, under the following politica:

A preferential tariff on products originating in the ALADI member countries. Regional scope agreements, common to the Member States. Agreement of partial scope between 2 or more of the Member States.

Structure of ALADI

La ALADI is formed under the following organismo:

Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, the supreme body of the ALADI, which adopts the most important decisions concerning the process of integration.   Evaluation and convergence Conference is responsible for examining the operation of the process of integration in all its aspects, facilitate the partial scope agreements, and promote actions on integration Economica.comite of representatives, responsible for analyzing all initiatives that encourage in the fulfilment of the objectives set by the General Tratado.secretaria, technical body of the ALADI. It has as function the proposition and evaluation, study, management oriented to the achievement of the objectives of the Association.
