What does RADAR Stand for

Radio Detection and Ranging

RADAR stands for Radio Detection and Ranging – detection and Telemetry on the radio, in free translation for the Portuguese. This is a device which, by means of electromagnetic waves reflected by objects, allows you to detect them long distances and accurately determine your location.

The first Radar was developed and built in 1904, by Christian Hülsmeyer in Germany at the time was not found any practical use for the device. In 1934, Pierre David, reviewing the electromagnetic theory, started some experiments for the development of a detection system for high-frequency radio waves. In parallel, Henri Gutton and Maurice Bridge, created a detection device that worked with great precision. At the beginning of World War II in 1939, Watson-Watt – considered by many as the inventor of Radar ‘ ’ – improved and developed new technologies, using fixed telemetry systems and roundabout.

The device is composed of a transmitting antenna, which recepta BioPharma signs for Super high frequency (SHF), the transmission is an electromagnetic pulse high-power, short and very narrow beam. The operation of the Radar is carried out basically by using two things – the eco and the Doppler effect – only using radio waves. During the propagation, the cone-shaped grows, until it reaches the monitored object, the signal is reflected and returns to the antenna, which currently assumes the receiving function. With the data about the speed of propagation of the pulse and the echo arrival time, you can easily calculate the distance of the object. It is also possible, whether the target is moving away, or approaching, due to the Doppler effect (lag of frequency between the signal sent and received).
